The Pennyrile WestPark Industrial Development Authority (PWIDA) is made up of representatives from the five counties surrounding the WestPark site. Caldwell, Crittenden, Livingston, Lyon, and Trigg Counties formed a partnership to establish the Pennyrile WestPark Industrial mega-site. PWIDA was established to develop, market, and promote the site to potential buyers.
Located in Lyon County, the Pennyrile WestPark Industrial site is made up of 831.40 acres of prime Kentucky landscape. The space will be marketed to large operations requiring over 500 acres for manufacturing, processing, assembling, or other facilities approved by PWIDA. Potential industries must meet minimum requirements in size and scope.
In 2004, the Kentucky Legislature passed HJR113, directing the Department of Corrections, Cabinet for Economic Development, Finance and Administration Cabinet and the Pennyrile WestPark Industrial Development Authority to facilitate the potential sale of the Pennyrile WestPark Industrial Park for the purpose of economic development within the Commonwealth.
The Pennyrile WestPark Industrial Development Authority’s mission is:
To utilize the strong partnership of the Pennyrile WestPark Industrial Development Authority to attract a large employer that will create high paying jobs to the benefit of the entire region. This partnership enables the five counties to pool their resources to launch a marketing effort that a single county could not accomplish. This project capitalizes on the extensive transportation network of western Kentucky that includes interstate access, rail access, and river port access.
